Day passes are on sale now for the 2013 Wine and Dine Festival at Horseshoe Bay Resort.  This is the 9th year of the annual Festival that brings wine enthusiasts from all over the state of Texas together to celebrate the growing Hill Country wine Region. The Festival celebrates great food as well as many award-winning chefs will converge at Horseshoe Bay Resort to share offerings during Saturday’s Sunset Stroll. Located less than an hour from Austin, the area is known for live music and the Wine and Dine Festival will also feature outstanding musical acts during both days of the November event. Here’s a rundown of the two-day event, November 8-9, 2013 at Horseshoe Bay Resort.

Wine Dinner and Auction

Friday, November 8th at the Horseshoe Bay Resort Event Lawn

Time: 6 p.m. Doors Open;  7 p.m. Dinner and Wine Auction begins

(Attire-Business Casual)

Joins us Friday night, November 8th starting at 6 p.m. as  Horseshoe Bay Resort’s Executive Chef Gilbert Moore serves up an exquisite four-course meal to be paired with Hill Country wines. Direct from Dallas, Hunter Sullivan and his Big Band will perform live. Patrons attending this dinner will be encouraged to participate in the Live Wine Auction that benefits CASA and the Texas Wine Growers Association.  Don’t miss out on this premier event of the Fall season in the Hill Country. Celebrity Chef Demo with Rebecca Rather

REBECCA RATHER has worked as a caterer and baker for 15 years, first for a couple of upscale Houston catering companies and then as the executive pastry chef for a group of high-end Houston restaurants. Then, while overseeing research and development for the Austin-based Schlotzky’s Corporation, she studied with renowned artisan baker Daniel Leader. Rather opened her own bakery, Rather Sweet Bakery, first in Austin in 1999. In 2000, she moved the bakery to a larger yet more intimate setting about an hour west of Austin. Rather and her recipes have been featured in Texas Monthly, Ladies’ Home Journal, Food & Wine, Saveur, Southern Living, and Chocolatier. She and her daughter, Frances, live in Fredericksburg, Texas. She is an award-winning author of several cookbooks and we are proud to have her participating in the 2013 Horseshoe Bay Resort Wine and Dine Festival.

Celebrity Chef Demo with Grady Spears

Grady Spears is the ultimate name in Cowboy Cooking.  He specializes in rustic elegance; taking the basics and making them delectably irresistible. Since Getting a humble start by punching and selling cattle, he has opened the Reata Restaurants he co-owned in Alpine and Fort Worth, Texas, and in Beverly Hills, California, The Roadrunner in Las Vegas, Nevada, The Chisholm Club in Fort Worth, The Burning Pear in Sugarland, Texas and The Nutt House in Granbury, Texas. Spears’ cookbooks to date are A Cowboy In The Kitchen, which he wrote with award-winning author Robb Walsh, as well as Cowboy Cocktails and The Great Steak Book. He also was the primary contributor to the very popular Dallas Cowboys Family Cookbook. In 2004 he released, with award-winning food and travel writer/author June Naylor, The Texas Cowboy Kitchen. His latest work,Cooking The Cowboy Way was released for publication by Andrews McNeel in the Fall of 2009.

Celebrity Chef Demo with Susie Jimenez, runner up on Food Network Star season 7 

Susie Jimenez began her relationship with food picking fruit with her parents, who came to California from Mexico. To pursue her food passion, Susie attended the California Culinary Academy and later worked as manager, line cook, sous chef and executive chef at several restaurants. She’s now the owner of Susie’s Custom Catering and Farmer’s Daughter and participates in events where she teaches students how to cook with a variety of techniques and flavors. Susie was runner-up on Season 7 of Food Network Star and currently owns and operates her new Houston restaurant Trenza.

Location: Horseshoe Bay Resort, Hotel Event Lawn

Enjoy culinary delights from acclaimed Texas Hill Country Restaurants and Artisans while sampling a dynamic blending of varietals from Hill Country Wineries. Live entertainment by MilkDrive, Ghosts Along the Brazos and  Bob Schneider and accompanying quartet.  Event to be held on the outdoors, but Resort’s Granite Ballroom will serve as the backup. Enjoy tastings from these celebrated wineries: Fall Creek, Spicewood Vineyards, Stone House, Bending Branch, Inwood Estates, Pedernales Cellears, William Chris and Perissos.
