Day passes are on sale now for the 2018 Wine and Dine Festival at Horseshoe Bay Resort.  This is the 14th year of the annual Festival that brings wine enthusiasts from all over the state of Texas together to celebrate the growing Hill Country wine Region. The Festival celebrates great food, as well as many award-winning chefs, will converge at Horseshoe Bay Resort to share offerings during Saturday’s Sunset Stroll. Located less than an hour from Austin, the area is known for live music and the Wine and Dine Festival will also feature outstanding musical acts during both days of the November event. Here’s a rundown of the two-day event, November 16-17, 2018 at Horseshoe Bay Resort.

Joins us Friday night, November 16th starting at 6:30 p.m. as Horseshoe Bay Resort’s Executive Chef Jay Hunter and celebrity chefs Shehu Fitzgerald, Sara Penrod and Roberto Madrid serve up an exquisite five-course meal to be paired with Hill Country wines. CHEF ROBERTO MADRID 

Executive Chef Roberto Madrid continues to raise the bar in Latin-American and Asian fusion cuisine. A native of Northern Mexico, he has spent decades crafting unexpected and delectable recipes featuring distinct tastes from around the world using locally-grown produce. Throughout his 30-plus year career, Madrid has worked with cuisines of multiple countries, providing him a strong foundation for combining different flavors into new dishes.

These include French haute cuisine, fine Italian, and modern Southwestern. After working with some of Scottsdale finest chefs, he became part of the opening culinary lead team for The Terrace restaurant at The Phoenician Resort & Spa and later served as Executive Chef for the Golden Swan at the Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort at Gainey Ranch. His skill elevated The Golden Swan restaurant into one of the Southwest's powerhouses of Mediterranean cuisine. Madrid spent 14 years with the Hyatt before joining The Westin Kierland Resort & Spa, where he served as Executive Chef Madrid has been involved in many high-profile local and international events through which he earned many accolades. Among these events are the 2001 annual gala event for the American embassy in Morocco that hosted 300 persons; the 2002 Culinary Tour in New York City; being part of the opening team for W hotel in Vieques, Puerto Rico in 2005; the 2011 "Panama Gastronomica" in Panama City, Panama; and a culinary tour and ceviche experience in Lima, Peru in 2014. Wishing to use his position to help others, he has been a long-time supporter of the James Beard Foundation.

CHER SARA PENROD

Sarah is the bestselling author of the Urban Cowgirl Cookbook, the former Texas media ambassador to the White House for the Chefs Move to Schools Initiative, a recurring "Fan Favorite" personality on Food Network, and the celebrity chef for Good Morning Texas. She has been private chef to notable Texans such as Eva Longoria, Tyler Seguin, Vicki Carr, Andy Dalton, and Tony Parker.

 Her debut cookbook, The Urban Cowgirl, was named one of the TOP 5 anticipated cookbooks for 2017 and has been highly praised by food writers throughout the state. Sarah maintains an active recipe blog at UrbanCowgirlLife.com

 After co-producing various projects for food television, Sarah began producing, The Urban Cowgirl YouTube channel, a cooking channel based out of Dallas. She now owns a small production company that produces broadcast quality videos for culinary concepts in DFW.

CHEF SHEHU FITZGERALD 

Chef Shehu Fitzgerald is a well-traveled chef with world wide inspirationally infused cuisine. Showcasing his diverse knowledge through simple dishes with complex and amazing flavors. As a classically trained chef and graduate of Johnson and Wales University, he has also completed training at the Culinary Institute of America, Birmingham College and is a member of Les Amis d'Escoffier Society. He has offered 20 years of success within the high-end hospitality and food & beverage industry. He has provided services for such places as the Ritz Carlton, Marriott Marquis, and Essex House.

He has been featured in several articles, blog post, and publications such as Urban Ink Magazine, Let's Do Lunch, In Tuned radio show, H.A.R.T online Magazine, and Neighborhood Chefs. In addition, Chef Shehu competed and won Food Network's CHOPPED. Chef Shehu promotes and supports his community and believes in giving back. He is an active participant for the local community gardens and has done work with the local Cancer Society.

In 2013 Chef Shehu released his line of amazing spice blends "the Works" designed to provide one blend that can complete any dish. Created with multiple seasonings with combinations that have been inspired by his extensive travel and experience.

Each of the spices can be used with a variety of meats and vegetables for marinating, grilling, finishing, broiling, and baking. They are ideal for anyone who wants to transform an ordinary dish into an extraordinary dish.
